RELIABLE REPAIRS WITH MODERN EQUIPMENT

"For us, every MC (Moving Coil) is a valuable asset entrusted by our customers, requiring the utmost care and meticulous repair."

If your cantilever is bent, twisted, broken, or was incorrectly repaired (using the wrong type or improper technique), it needs to be restored.

Repair and Replacement of Cantilevers

For certain cases where the cantilever is bent, warped, or misaligned but shows no cracks, we can recalibrate and restore it to its original condition without replacement—provided there isn’t extensive oxidation and the diamond tip remains in good shape.

If a new cantilever is needed, we remove the old one, clean off adhesive residue, dust, and rust, then install a brand-new cantilever. (We’ve often encountered MC cartridges with two or three cantilevers layered onto the old one, which severely reduces high-frequency response, adds extra mass to the coil system, and diminishes both dynamics and performance.)

When replacing the cantilever, we typically reuse your old diamond tip if it’s still in good condition. Otherwise, we’ll recommend a new diamond.

Available cantilever options include aluminum tubing, 0.28–0.3mm alloy, titanium tubing, beryllium tubing, 0.28mm solid boron, gold-plated boron, sapphire (0.28mm), ruby, Carbon C1000 (made of 1,000 carbon fibers for exceptional rigidity and durability), and diamond.

Costs for cantilever replacement and recalibration on MC cartridges range from 40$ to 80$ for aluminum tubing, and from 100$ to 490$ for precious metals or gemstone materials. Prices vary depending on the condition of the damaged cartridge and the timing of the repair. (For certain high-end cartridges, please contact us directly for a custom quote.)

Once the work is complete, we perform thorough measurements and a final overall cleaning before returning the cartridge to you.
